Yunguilla Reserve

The reserve is situated in the Yunguilla Valley, 50 km south-southwest of Cuenca in Azuay Province.

  • Elevation: 1600-2000 msnm
  • Ecosystems: Dry (bushy, grasslands and bamboo)
  • Zoogeographic floor: Subtropical (Andean Slopes & Valleys)
  • Area: 160 ha.

    How to get?

The Reserve is two hours west of Cuenca city by the road – Girón – Santa Isabel – Pasaje. You have to reach a village called La Union. You enter through the first gas station on the right side toward to the center of La Union village. Then you have to continue in the same road until you cross a small bridge and 300 meters ahead you will come across signs that will lead to the Reserve.

Coming from Buenaventura, take the road Pasaje – Girón, passing the town of Santa Isabel, that is   10 km far from La Union.
