Activities and Biodiversity
Urraca Lodge is a strategic point for watching birds of Tumbesian dry forests, in an area characterized by the special charm of gigantic Ceiba trees. We have the following trails:
- Trail 1 journeys across a dry forest remnant typical of the Tumbesian region, wherein colossal Ceiba trees prevail.
- Trail 2 has an enormous Ceiba tree known as Goblin’s House, owing to its unusual silhouette.
- Trail 3 traverses the summit of an arid gorge clad in dry forest typical of the Tumbesian region, dominated by Ceiba trees. Ideal for mountain biking. This trail houses another Ceiba tree, this one known as Ceiba Macho for its unique shape. Likewise, another Ceiba is called The Little House.
Noteworthy bird species in this reserve are, amongst others: King Vulture, Ochre-bellied Dove, Henna-hooded Foliage-gleaner, Blackish-headed Spinetail, Watkins’ Antpitta, Gray-breasted Flycatcher, and White-tailed Jay.
